On The Job Training Experience: Being a Caregiver (6)

Sixt day of duty, March 28, 2006:

The assignment was still at the OBYGENE WARD with the same lady patient diagnosed of Vaginal Bleeding. By performing the procedures: I checked or regulated the flow of I.V. fluid, asked clarificatory question to verify about her diagnose by asking how she felt at that instance, took the vital signs, and waited for the doctor's round to know about the development of the case.

To this day, the patient confessed that she was pregnant and she had a misscarriage. Doubts about vaginal bleeding with abnormal menstruation was cleared. I saw it with my own eyes how her mother and sister were reacting at that point in time, especially the fiancee was her. What I did was giving of other bedside care like taking of vital signs.

The overall observation show that vital signs were generally normal and the doctor who conducted/performed the E.I. recommended that the patient could be allowed to go home provided that both, she and her fiancee, should avoid sexual contact unless the affected area in the uterus had fully recovered, and no signs could be seen of any tissues remained brought about by miscarriage. The doctor prescribed antibiotics to be taken regularly. The patient had to report for check-up on April 4, 2006 to see if no issues were left in the uterus. The doctor said that sexual contact is permissble only right at the time of marriage. The patient and her fiancee were going to be wed on April 9, 2006.
