The victim of abuse

Today's foreign news in the local daily was of a baby in Texas abused by her father who put her in a microwave oven for 10-20 seconds. Before doing so he had earlier punched the baby and put her in the hotel room safe and refrigerator.
In another page still on foreign news, a toddler of 3 years in Sydney saves his mother who lay unconcious and bleeding by phoning the police and paramedics informing them of the situation. They found the toddler with his 9 month old brother and their epileptic mother.
I was indeed appalled by the father's cruelty towards his own flesh and blood and I was really impressed with the toddler's heroic act.
What has happened to adults to turn them into savage beasts? Are they fair when they treat their young badly? Will this trend continue whenever an adult turns angry and frustrated? Can this father ever forgive himself for the damage inflicted on his baby? God only can tell.

shobhan, i fail to understand how one person can even sctratch another one, let alone hurting or murdering. and parents commiting such atrocities...it's unfathomable...

I brought this issue up because such atrocities seem to rise in today's world. Poor babies are also not spared from abuse (even biological parents are the perpetrators of such cruelty).
