A Wish Fulfilled

The mansion was perched precariously on the hilltop overlooking the graveyard. Night was drawing near and the moon was high above the clouds over the mansion. The night breeze moaned softly as it made its way through the blades of long grass lining the graves.
Nurse Dawn sat by her desk penning her memoirs into her diary. She was a picture of misery and disappointment. She never found love in her home nor at work.
She was the one who had to mind the sick and the needy. She was responsible for her aged parents until they died. She was the one whom everyone turned to for assistance to have a job done. Why did she have to be so efficient? Why did she strive to excel while her siblings and other acquaintances found the perfect partners to start their home and families? Why was life unfair to her while others have had better deals?
These thoughts passed by as she made her way to the kitchen searching for the perfect weapon to get the job done quick and fast.
The shiny metal blade gleamed under the moonlight as she raised it towards her throat. She turned her head away as its pointed tip drew close to her slim , long neck. She closed her eyes tightly as the sharp edge of the knife slid sharply down her throat. At the first spurt of blood oozing out of the blood vessel in the neck , she let out a short but sharp scream piercing the stillness of the night. She could feel the last breathe of life leaving her frail form as it slowly slumped onto the pool of blood on the floor.
Her mind wandered to the happier times when she was surrounded by love and care. "Oh ! what a joy to be free again from the trials and turbulence of the earthly life!"
