The Odd Couple

Mr and Mrs George had planned a short holiday in Sydney. They were meeting their daughter who has been residing in Australia for a number of years.
The couple was taking a ride in a taxi along a winding road to the airport.
"George, are you sure the lights are switched off in all the rooms including the bathrooms?" Martha enquired as she neatened George's coat collar.
"Yes Martha," came the quick reply.
"And George, did you make sure that the front gates are securely padlocked?"
"Yes Martha," came the prompt reply.
The taxi came to a halt not far from the doors leading to the departure lobby at the airport.
"George get your passport ready quick."
"George are you listening? Get your passport ready for inspection. There is no time left. We have to hurry."
"Yes Martha, yes Martha."
"George, quickly. Let's go."
"But Martha, I have to tell you something, I left my passport behind." George continued, " You will have to go alone, I'm sorry."
"But George."
"Don't worry. Bye Martha! See you when you return."
Martha made her way through the departure lobby and the exit doors leading to the waiting carrier. As the last passenger boarded the carrier, George hurried to the nearest phone booth.
"Hello! Hello! Is that John?"
"Yes George! Have you reached Sydney? It is pretty fast!" John exclaimed.
"No only Martha boarded the flight, I am still here. Come let's rejoice.
