Parents, Children and Drugs..

Many a times it is the invoking need of our body for dependence which may be psychological or sometimes low morale which all compel us to use a drugs to experience psychological or physical effects so as to come out of these lows. The matter of much concern today is that many young children too have taken to drugs and it is the parents who are a harried lot due to their commitment to this mire.

It has been seen many parents cannot make out if their child is taken to drugs or not. Children today are much advanced as far as taking to the latest things are concerned may it be mobiles or drugs. It is the influence of media, television and movies which have a telling effect on the children. The impact of the western culture is so vivid that many are pushed to drug addiction out of concern and curiosity.

Many teenagers take to this habit as they are passing through a sensitive stage of their careers and it the peer pressure which they are unable to handle.

Consequently the parents are on the outlook if their child is hooked or not. It is the changes which are an indicator if there is any change in personality of a child.

Some very useful indicators which specifically hint towards drug inclination are:-
1. A child staring into space yet focusing on nothing.
2. Lack of appetite.
3. Lack of concern for studies and playing.
4. No interest in family affairs.
5. New friends who seem to be in habit of smoking or else.
6. Spends much time outside house with such friends.
7. Remains isolated for a long time.
8. Eats much but there is loss of weight.
9. Just after eating goes to bathroom and vomits out.
10. If eyes are red and you find mouth fresheners aplenty to hide smell of alcohol or smoke.
11. Too much use of cold and cough medicines.
12. The finding of Hair sprays, boot polish, paints strippers, nail polish remover, index etc in a teenager’s room are all indicators of a drug addict in your house.

Some times parents take child for counseling and the use of the drugs is stopped, which may result in other complications like nausea, headaches, restlessness, sweating, and difficulty sleeping. The severity of drug withdrawal symptoms varies depending on the drug involved.
