Living here now

How many times have you heard someone whinge about how life was great when they were young; when they were at school; when they went to college; when they just started working; when they led a bachelor’s life; when they had just got married; when the kids were young; when the kids were at school; when the kids were at college; when the kids got married…and the complaining goes on till the time comes when you are going to take your last breath and you realize, “I didn’t even live my life and I am going to die now. No God! Please give me some time so I can just feel what living is all about.”

Even if you cannot identify with your death scene, I am sure most of us can identify ourselves with the whining self. All the time that we spend in whining procrastinates happiness.

Realize that this moment is special. All that is needed to make you happy is happening now. Yesterday is history and tomorrow is a mystery. I know it’s a cliché but it is just so apt.

That moment you are whining about was ‘present’ that time. But you don’t knopw that because you were lamenting the loss of a previous moment. And it’s a vicious circle now.

Dare to take one step out of the circular path you are so accustomed to walking. Just do it once. Feel the fresh grass growing along that path. Isn’t it boring to take the same way everyday?

Osho says, “If every moment is taken as the last - as it should be because the next is uncertain – you are changing youself; and your change is going to be infectious.”

Try living for the moment for, say ten minutes everyday, and notice the difference.

All the best!
