Of Unborn Daughters

Ours is a land of many faiths and religions. There are plenty of gods and goddesses which are prayed and earnestly revered by people belonging to many religions and sects. In a land of goddess worshipers it is amazing to find that the girls are not seeing the light of the day as they are eliminated within the womb. Perhaps it would be nothing less than a miracle to be born as a girl and yet survive these days.

With the advancement of modern technology there are scores of ultramodern instruments and gadgets which are finding their way into the hands of unscrupulous elements, who do not lack behind in displaying their nefarious designs in harming the culture and society alike.

All thanks to the modern and latest technology that the girl child is not even allowed to be born today. Call it social backwardness of the people or a stagnate mindset which has developed a snag and defers to come out of it, that most of the families belonging to not only backward and illiterate classes but also the advanced ones take to detection of fetus for sex determination. It is evident that on realizing the sex of the baby if it is a girl it is eliminated within the mother’s womb.

Prenatal diagnostic techniques have corrupted the social fabric of the society today. This trend needs to be checked at the earliest. Due to dwindling sex ratio, the crime rate in the society will increase against the women, thus casing a havoc of all sorts.
