It’s Dolly Parton week in American Idol. Here’s my own evaluation of American Idol 9 finalists performances:

1.) Brooke White- I’m not really into country songs, you know, but I fell in love with her rendition of “Jolene”. It’s simple yet powerful. Brooke now becomes an unforgettable contestant to me.

probability to go home: 0 %

probabilty to stay: 100%. She’s sweet, adorable and likable, so she’ll get many votes. She’s consistent, and she always keep it simple.

2.) David Cook: He sang “Little Sparrow”. It’s the first time I’ve heard this song, and I actually loved it. For the first time, I saw his versatility. I hate noisy rock numbers, but this one has a simple arrangement, so I loved it. The song showed that he can hit high notes and he has vocal range. And I love his new hair; it doesn’t expose his massive head.

probability to go home: 0%

probability to stay: 100% Duh. This guy is very consistent from the beginning, and he’s likable, smart and talented. People would vote for him. Simon even said that he could actually win.

3.) Ramiele Malubay: That’s a very karaoke performance. I mean, it’s so predictable and there’s no surprise at all. She lacked power and vocal range. Judges think that it was forgettable. I agree.

probability to go home: 80%. The song choice was mediorce, even the performance itself. She could really do better than that. Let’s just hope that many people will vote for her.

probability to stay: 20% crowd favorites are very hard to beat. Even if they lose, they still look like winners. Same goes for Ramiele; she’s a favorite since the beginning, and thanks to her cuteness, many people are still voting for her. She has a great voice, but she doesn’t really show it. I’m amazed, she’s still on the show.

4.) Jason Castro: He sang “Traveling Through”. I love the performance because it was funky, but the thing is, it’s just the same performance. I don’t know, but I wasn’t really satisfied with his performance. It’s okay, but it’s not enough for him to stay. He gotta go.

probability to go home: 90%. Charm starting to wear off. You can’t perform same arrangements for the whole season.

probabilty to stay: 10%. There’s a vast number of obssessed-girls who will vote for Mr. Dread. He already established a huge fanbase, and vote from his fans can save him from his “dreadful” future of being voted off.

5.) Carly Smithson: I loved her performance. It’s so powerful, but I still don’t want her to win. She looked beautiful as she ended the song with a “glorious” flight of voice. Judges said it was okay.

probability to go home: 20%. She’s not a favorite, and she barely have fans.

probability to stay: 80% considering the her good performance tonight, it’s enough to make her stay.

6.) David Archuleta: There’s something in him that makes people vote for him. Looks or charm, I don’t know. Maybe both. his tonight’s performance was great, I loved it, even though it’s the first time I heard that song. It’s so full of emotions, but very depressing. If you’re depressed, don’t listen to David Archuleta, he’ll make it worse.

probability to go home: 0%

probability mto stay: 100% Talent and vocals, check. Looks, check. Charm, check. Personality, check. Stage presence, check. Fleet of fans, check. Man, he got it all. HE’S READY TO WIN.

7.) Kristy Lee Cook: Whoa. After a rough start in top 24 through the top 12, finally, she gained momentum. She’s always close. But this time the force is so with her. You see, country music is her thing. It suits her vocals and style. I liked her performance tonight, but I’m still on prototype and a big part of me really wants her to go home. This week is the best week for her because Dolly Parton is a country singer, and her songs would perfectly fit into KLC like Cinderella to her glass shoe.

probability to go home: 5%, due to the fact many people hates her now and wanted her to go home.

probability to stay: 95%. Well, like what I’ve said, she gained momentum this week, because of the country genre. It would be easy for her, and like what everyone predicted, she made no effort, but still had a good performance. She manage to survive and stay with weak performances, so this time, I expect to see her next week, because her performance was okay.

8.) Syesha Mercado: Her rendition of “I Will Always Love You” is just boring as her other performances. Where’s th Syesha wo sang, “Chain of Fools” during the Hollywood week? The one who said se’s gonna be the next American Idol. The song was sort of “whitney-ouston-ish”, so it was predictable. Her vocals were okay, but it’s a wrong choice of song.

probability to go home: 60%. Her performance wasn’t weak as Ramiele or Jason.

probality to stay: 40%. She has the voice and star quality.

9.) Michael Johns: What’s up with the blues? That’s alright, I loved his performance. It’s brilliant, and I can’t feel a Dolly Parton element on it when he performed it. He really treated it as if it’s his own.

probability to go home: 0%

probability to stay: 100% he’s one of the strongest contender and he has a lot of fans.

I’m so disapointed, there’s no “Islands on the Stream” number.
