Sterling Performance ; Awestruck Audiences

Pro-Helvetta – the Swiss Arts Council is a company of contemporary Swiss dance performers DA MOTUS! The world famous Sukhna Lake of ‘The City Beautiful’ , Chandigarh, was the centre of attraction on Sunday the 23rd March 08, as the crowds were treated to a unique theatre spectacle by the world acclaimed Swiss dance ensemble “DA MOTUS” in collaboration with the Chandigarh Tourism.

The troupe comprised of four accomplished dancers who gave a sterling performance to an awestruck audiences live at the lake Promenade.

DA MOTUS = give offer + movement was the spectacle of a performance which talked and questioned the audiences about the very relationship of human beings that they have with the urban spaces they occupy and live in. The performance was so powerful that it resulted in the audiences becoming judgmental about their very existence in a surrounding that is self created - but yet so alien. The performers wore thought provoking costumes and were asking the audiences if this is our future?

The performers were attired in plastic green suits, seemed to be astronauts with masks which were suggestive of the environmental preservation in the years to come. Their precise coordination and perfect synchronization in amazing profusion throughout the show was a testimonial of their innate aesthetic potential and hard work especially as they performed to the music of composer Phillepe Heritier.
