'Holi' ; the Festival of Colours !!!

With the arrival of holi there is a jubiliation on the streets with children chanting Holi-Hai………… This is the time when colours fill the atmosphere as children small and big all, wearing clothes of various hues and colours throw hybrid colours in shades of pink violet red and green in the air to their hearts elation. They throw gulal in the air showing great excitement and joy. Their thrill and excitement has no limitations as they start their day with the formation of groups.

Holi also marks the end of the winter gloom and rejoices in the bloom of the spring time. The time and whether are their best and the people make the most of it.

The festive mood of holi is set with the colours of different hues flooding the market places and vendors selling them to the people till the actual day of holi. It is a delight to watch in such colorful and delightful mood with jubilations all around. With the colours they want to share their feeling and also express their love for one another.

Children are in an aggressive mood and demand loads of colours from their parents. They scatter colour in the air and some fill their pichkaris with colour water and sprinkle it on the passer byes and friends. Most wish to apply colour to their friends and want to be the first to do it. On this festive occasion nobody minds and nobody missies being coloured.

Now a days it is very easy to purchase colours form the market. Mostly people are fond of gulal of fine quality which is used to exchange colours with love. Previously people used to make colours at home, usually from flowers of ‘tesu’ and ‘palash’. These home made colours had a special fragrance and fineness towards skin.
