Career Women -- build iron ceilings by breaking glass ceilings!!

There is a growing trend in Corporate India -- women are breaking male bastions and entering into new professions that were hitherto the exclusive preserve of men.

This is exactly what should happen. As more and more awareness is created about education, careers, and the different roles that career women need to play in modern organizations, there will be an urge for women to excel in all fields, and do even better than women.

Firstly, husbands should encourage their wives to take up careers and prove it that behind every successful career woman, there is a man. It is not true that only behind every successful man there is a woman. No married woman can become a big success in their careers, without the support of their husbands.

Secondly, women should realise that sky is the limit, provided they are ready. For instance, there is an acute shortage of women in a profession like equity research. Since our economy is now one of the fastest growing in the world, there is bound to be a big upsurge in demand for professionals, and women can take up careers in this field. Similarly, event management, careers in journalism in the print media, and booming opportunities in web-based publishing, to name a few, can be very carefully exploited by women. All one needs is to acquire a good command over written and spoken English, and pick up these skills, so that they can make successful careers.

Thirdly, the so-called glass ceiling, is a myth, as it has now been proved, with a growing tribe of women CEOs, who have performed as good or if not better than their male counterparts.

Fourthly, women need to develop the courage and the guts to make it. Just look around whatever is going on around you. Hundreds of self-employment opportunities are available in the cities and each of these can be exploited to your advantage, if you care to notice them. For example, just look at the need for good food and serve the bachelors in your immediate neighbourhood. What will start as a small business will become one with a huge turnoever, if you serve your customers very well, and get repeat business through word of mouth.

Fifthly, believe in yuurself. All women have been born in this world as equal, and each one of you should fight against injustice in every form. Today, even the worst man with the worst of attitudes is changing. Take full advantage of this, and emerge victorious.

Believe in yourself, and build iron ceilings that can never be broken, irrespective of circumstances. Face upto the new challenges and go ahead in life!
