Diamonds Are Forever...!(1)

Last week my wife asked me ‘Diamond Ring’ as her birthday gift. The poor and innocent lady, though, didn’t mention what kind of diamond she wanted. So I hoodwinked her by gifting a beautiful American diamond which is cheaply available at any street side shop.

American diamond as a gift! You might surprise at my cheap decision. But I’m not…as I know it’s not possible for middle class man to buy diamonds as the gift item. Let those sleek diamond T.V. commercials and print advertisement say or show anything we won’t budge an inch or blink for a Nano-seconds! But do you know which the biggest and costly diamond of the world is? As far as my information about diamonds is concerned it was known as ‘Great Mughal’ .That diamond was approximately 817 caret of weight when discovered. But one novice cutter man, while working on it, cut it down to more then the half less, reducing its weight to only 287 caret! According to some history books this diamond was first seen at the possession of Aurangjeb around 1650.But later it was looted by one Nadirshah and then it was vanished in the air! Nobody saw that ‘Great Mughal diamond again, after that…!

The second biggest diamond of the world was ‘Great Table’ (Or level). This diamond was looted by Nadirshah again from someone I don’t know. It weight approximately around 242 caret and has been at the possession of Iran government.
