STAND ALONE COMPUTER is a general term
A stand alone computer means a computer having an operating system,user programs and data .It has the means to put information on a floppy diskette, on a hard disk , or on paper. Information from such a computer passes to another user only by first taking a copy which can be in the form of a print-out or it can be the information in a floppy disk, a removable hard disk,or a compact disk(CD).It is not connected to another computer and does not share its resources with any computer other than itself.

COMPUTER NETWORKS
A computer network means a system of interconnected computers.
It can mean an interconnected group of computer systems,computer networks or autonomous systems-a network of networks.Itcan also mean an interconnected group of hosts and nodes .

NODE is a general term for a computer or system or device.Device means like a printer or a web enabled home appliance.A node on a network has a unique address.

HOST is a computer node with a unique identification address.A host has at least one computer but a node need not be a computer.

A computer network provides the means to transmit or send information from one computer to another computer.In a network it is not necessary to first copy the matter on a floppy diskette,hard disk ,or on paper and then dispatch it manually to another computer .
