Life Begins at 40..

‘Life begins at 40’, is a popular saying. Accordingly at this stage one feels the happiness associated with the completeness of life. There is a feeling of growing old. Well it is not the years that you add to your life that counts, but it is the life in your years that you live which really matter.

Instead, many people particularly young have a different meaning for life when they reach this stage of their life. They associate growing old with being miserable, loss of vigour, strength and stamina and vitality. They may take this age to be a string of stresses, tensions and hordes of problems.

Some may even find it too difficult to maintain good health and all the same preserving happiness. Some want to live their life to the fullest through all the possible enjoyable means. Thus they may take to various modes of recreation and enjoyment, which may damage their future health.

People often start taking alcohol, smoke and take tobacco products to ease themselves. All the while they neglect their social obligations towards family and society. On the same they might neglect diet and physical fitness. This can be greatly attributed to poor life-style, substandard living conditions and financial strains.

There is a change in life style during 40’s and people often wander in lurch, here and there in search of true happiness. This is because most are convinced that as they grow older they will become more and more miserable and morose due to social and financial askings. However it is my firm belief that old age does not mean a decline in happiness. Whilst many youths associate old age with gloom, but it is not the case.
