FEAR OF DEATH

Have you come across to question yourself in what way will we perish or die?

Tragic and violent deaths always make me wonder if those who died that way might have committed such grave sins that angered God so immensely. But come to think of it, Jesus Himself, the martyrs and many good people we know met violent deaths. And so the fearsome truth is that tragic death can happen to me or to my beloved family.

What brings me hope however, is Jesus’ admonition today. He says that if we will mend our ways, we will “not die tragically.” Better yet, the wretchedness accompanying such deaths will vanish amidst the awesome power of God who is God of life and not death.

It does not matter now what form of death awaits us. For so long as we please the Lord, He will be there to see us through our last hurdle in this life. We will behold his smiling face, his beckoning embrace. No longer will we see the physical death that we foolishly fear, but the proximity of bliss in paradise.
