March 8th; International Women’s Day: What About 364 other days?

It makes no sense in celebrating women’s day for one day of the year and forgetting their rights and needs, the respect and dignity they deserve on the rest of 364 days.

Perhaps they need to be given equal rights and opportunities on each single day and be recognized as an individual throughout the year.

The constitution of India provides equal rights and opportunities for all, yet we find very few women making to the top at the level of decision making.

There is vast gender inequality prevailing in homes and at work places with references to large scale female feticide on one hand and sexual exploitation on the other.

On this day we find scores of debates and glamorous functions and mass celebrations being held to honor womanhood. Even our Parliamentarians are not far behind to debate the need to reserve 33% seats for women and sooner they forget it all.
