An Ordeal..

Travelling by a state owned city bus in our country is an experience which only the brave-hearts would only brave to repeat. Unfortunately I had the experience of travelling by the roadways bus of Punjab. This was because of severe cold wave recently, when my car refused to turn on as the battery was out of charge. Ultimately with no other mode of transport in sight and due to paucity of time I decided to catch the local bus from the nearest bus stop.

The frequency of bus service was erratic. After standing for about 20 minutes I managed to get on one. The bus was old and dirty and ill maintained and was full to the capacity. By nature the bus conductor and driver were rude and didn’t bother about the passengers comforts.

While I was standing in the midway, the other passengers were constantly moving to and fro, from back gate to the front, often trampling upon my toes. Even the old people and the ladies were standing in the aisle. Perhaps it was an ordeal one would not easily forget.
