Getting to Know Your Customers - Happy Customers Make for Happy Profits
We've all heard the expression that the customer is always right, but how many of us really take the time with our home businesses to implement things that our customers really want? No business can be successful if it is not catering to its customer's needs and providing the products and services that they really want or need.
The key to finding success in any home business is to perfectly match your products, services and website experience with what your customers want. When someone finds a website that meets all of their needs and offers a product that is exactly what they were looking for they are going to complete a purchase. That means that your income will increase and you will find more success with your online business...meaning more money in your pocket.
So how do you know what your customers want? The first thing you need to determine is exactly who your customers are. Does your product or service cater to young people or old people? Women or men? Wealthy people or people on a limited income? Simply answering these questions is going to get you a lot closer to knowing how to meet the needs of your customers.
Next, you need to research the people that you are trying to target. The internet has made this process quite simple - especially compared to the old brick and mortar days. What is the easiest way to find out what your customers are thinking? To visit forums where they hang out. Say, for instance, that your product is related to sewing.
Simply by visiting a sewing forum you can learn a ton of valuable information about what your customers are looking for, how they feel about certain products, what their needs are and what problems they are having. When you take this information and write your sales page or design your product around it you will be speaking directly to your customers' wants and needs. That means that when they arrive at your website they are going to feel as if the site was designed specifically to cater to them and they are going to be much more likely to make a purchase. Not only that, but you will avoid wasting time and resources developing products for which there is no demand and instead can focus on products or services that you know are in need.
Another quick and easy way to find out what your customers are thinking is through a survey. There are many free survey programs that you can add to your site that allow you to gather information directly from your customers. To get a better response rate on your survey consider offer a discount or incentive. For instance, you may offer a $5.00 off coupon for filling out the survey or something similar.
By catering to your customers and working to meet all of their needs you are going to get a better conversion rate and you are going to increase your profits.
