Why do we Sleep?

It is a well known fact that sleep is the basic instinct of humans and our body and mind need rest to relax and to escape from the responses needed while awake. Rather we become tired in body and mind if we do not sleep. To be precise when we sleep the electrical activity of the brain slows down, although it may be stimulated when we have dreams. In other words we may say that in order to remain in a waking state, it becomes necessary to replenish in sleep, our exhaustion.

The new born babies sleep too much as their powers of reasoning have not yet developed. Although it is not surely known why we sleep, yet there is no doubt, that we need to do so and so do most of the other animals. The pattern of sleep and wakefulness is closely associated with our habits and senses. We humans like other many animals are diurnal, who are awake and active during day and sleep at night.

With the age our requirement of sleep changes. Pre school children sleep up to 9 to 12 hours where as school children have 8 to 11 hours sleep. Adults have 6 to 8 hours of sleep which suffices their needs. As they grow older they seem to have a progressively less sleep!

sleep & rest

it s good to sleep ,if we doesnt sleep we will b having many sleep disorders,the nxt whole day will b ruined .sleep is not wasting time ,even in sleep our brain will b more active & it is helpful in repair system,our immunity,we recall all our day activities,its gives strength & energy for the nxt day but it depends how much u sleep & minimum of 4 hr sleep is essential

A good nights sleep of about six to eight hours

not only refreshens us but also makes us prepared for the new day!
