The Tip:Removing Stains
1)To remind yourself that a garment is stained and needs pretreating, tie a loose knot on its sleeve or leg before tossing it into the washer.Remember, that the longer a stain remains, the more difficult it is to remove.
2)When no stain remover is available, try using automatic diswashing detergent.Apply a paste of it with an old toothbrush, then rinse thoroughly.
3) If you spill something on your clothes while eating out,dip a clean, white cloth napkin or handkerchief into a glass of club soda and sponge the spot.
4) To remove wet red-wine stain, quickly sprinkle salt on it.Then put the item in cold water and try to rub out the stain before washing the stain.
5) If red wine stains your white linen, fill a bucket with tepid water add a very small amount of liquid bleach and dip the spotted portion in the solution.Rub gently with fingers until the stain dissolves.Rinse thoroughly.
6) Hair spray removes a ball point ink stain, but on silk, test spray a hidden area for bleeding dye.Afterwards, flush with water, wash or dry-clean garment.
