Girls are Assets, Not Burdens!
Due to increase in female feticide there is a declining in male to female sex ratio with the boys far exceeding the girls. It is perhaps the murder of the innocent unborn child which never sees the light of the day and is eliminated within the mother’s womb or soon after the birth. It is one of the age old notion in the mind set of our age old society that a male child is the heir. The secondary factors which make the situation worse are the socio-economic ones.
It is perhaps a male dominated society and a girl child is considered to be a financial burden on the economy of a family. She is expected to drain the family fortunes in a big way when of marriageable age.
The girls are much more sensitive and caring for the parents and prove their worth in all aspects. There is no denying the fact that in reality they do much more than what boys do for the household.
The time has come when the concerned ministries have considered of giving a cash incentive to the families whose girls grow up to be 18 years of age. This would certainly give the girls a more chance of survival and also help to curb the incidence of female feticide. Similar pattern has been followed in some of the countries like Brazil, Chile, Columbia and Mexico and have proved to be very encouraging. In order to make it more attractive and accepted why not additional incentives like on child birth, immunization and every year till a girl child completes her elementary education till the age of 18 years!

agreed that ours is a hypocrite society and we believe in
showcasing every thing that we owe, may it be sons! truly its very sad indeed that our girls find no place of respect in this male dominated society. A bill is coming fast in this direction I hope conditions would improve faster!

About girl child
The discrimination between a girl child and boy child goes back to Biblical times.Even God,so the book says,had createa Eve as an appendage to Adam.Even the Hindu Gods had suppressed their women:Parvati tagging along Shiva,Radha dancing to the tunes of Krishna,Sita obediently bowing to the dictates of lord Rama,and so on.What I mean to say is the system will have to be changed drastically.Words male and female have to be discarded first from the educational institutions so that only humans could be recognized.I have two daughters,and I have never ever ,even in my dreams,felt the need of a son.You do have a golden heart.You can't change the concepts of people,and its a pity!
