Teenage Violence

The young but naïve minds are fast taking to violence on the school campuses. Last week a student of class eighth pulled out revolver of his father, which he had managed to take stealthily into the school and shot dead a fellow student. And another day a girl student was shot dead by her jilted lover. Recent incidents of violence and killings have shocked the society. These have put a big question mark on the character of education culture prevailing in our system. Is it the parents to be blamed or it is the company in which he moves and finds solace in. With the advent in modern technology the children are being exposed to films, 3-D video games that depict violence and destruction. Witnessing crime thrillers for example may develop in children behavioral complexes and deviation from social to antisocial behavior. It is sometimes the parents who have an altercation or display a verbal aggression, which induces their children to indulge in aggressive behavior or sheer violence resulting in cold blooded murder. It is this aggression which is transformed into action and often results in inflicting injury to others. The antisocial behavior should not be neglected and it is for the parents and teachers to counsel the child as they are a child’s best friend. Today children are also getting lesser attention from parents who are engrossed with their own hassles of work pressure. Some convent schools do have counselors who may impart some kind of moral values in them. While some schools have a five star culture and have no meaning for parent teacher interaction and avoid such ideas. Education does not end in the school but rather it starts at home. Thus it is a social obligation on the part of parents to impart holistic vision in their ward and build a conducive environment to shape the mind of children.

We fail to understand that it may turn violent. Joint efforts from variour social circles are needed to curb teenage violence.
