Was it a Volcanic Eruption that wiped out the Dinosaurs?
Another theory that talks about a huge Volcanic Eruption occurring on the Earth believes that such an eruption caused the death of the dinosaurs. This theory is supported by a large body of geologists and palaeontologists. The eruption that was responsible for the extinction was a result of mantle plumes – a phenomenon caused by rising hot mantle from deep within the earth.
The volcanism theory says that several volcanoes on the planet spewed so much gas, ash and dust into the Earth’s atmosphere that no sunlight reached the surface of the Earth for thousands of years. As the temperature fell, plant and animal life also soon succumbed. Only a few organisms were able to survive this mass extinction. Less than 30 % and it is this massive explosion that would have led to extremely cold climate which would make it impossible for most of the animals to survive.

I think that it was dearth of food and the changing climatic conditions which wiped out the dinosaurs!
shishir I think there is a need to make more extensive study on this issue!
