Cruelty to Animals

Cruelty in any from is bad. It is perhaps a sin in the eyes of God. It is immoral to inflict cruelty on any living creature. There can be no two opinions about it. But actually do we ever think how we treat our animals. It is a well known fact that animals have been man’s best friend since ages unknown. It is very painful experience to see increase in cruelty towards animals which is on the increase in the recent years.
We are never tired of talking about the rights of men and women. In fact there is a loud hue and cry whenever our rights are violated. Well animals who are poor dumb creatures and cannot protest, don’t they have any rights? It is a well a fact that we get leather for our shoes, accessories, we get wool for our clothes and we do get milk and poultry from animals of course. But what do we give them in return? Perhaps nothing but only cruelty and Cruelty to animals is a common right of all human beings.
One can find emaciated animals being beaten mercilessly and jabbed cruelly. They are often whipped mercilessly and forced to carry loads of tons of weight. Their drivers shout at them and beat them when ever they are unable to drive carriages orderly. The whip lashes inflict them with sores and painful wounds on their bodies which invite flies and this produces a nauseating effect. Not only this we underfed them. And when they grow old, we leave them to starve to death or the hoard of weak and bony sheep, goats, and old buffaloes is driven to the slaughter houses. It is beyond one’s imagination that how much torture these dumb animals have undergone till that stage.
It is high time to bring teeth to the society for preventing cruelty to animals so that this inhuman cruelty is stopped to be meted out to them. Is it not human, to represent values of mercy, pity and peace, etc. Humans must realize responsibility towards these invaluable creatures of God.
