Religious belief should be like singing in the bathroom

The original intentions of all religions were refinement of human mind, to raise the human species beyond the level animals. Animal philosophy is survival of the fittest. If this were applied to human beings, what would be the result? So the intentions were indeed noble. But unfortunately things do not work out as envisioned by the founders. The truth is religions have become what they should not be.
There is only one way out. That is, religions should be strictly a private affair. It should be like singing in the bathroom. Bathroom song is intended for the singer to enjoy himself. It should not spill out of the four walls. If it does, it can be a nuisance for some others. Without offending anybody, I would go a little more ahead: religion should be like wearing underwear, the selection of which is purely based on personal interests. The selection should not be based on others’ taste.
If personalised religions replace organized ones we may be relieved of the negative implications of religions.

I have a fair idea of what you are trying to convey, Sum2007...
I do agree with you that religion should be your choice and how you practice should also be your very own personal choice.
When I have a dialog with my Maker, I do it all the time in conversation with Him and not in a printed prayer form. After all He is my Heavenly Father. Who better can I share my life, my ups and downs with? So no one can dictate to me how I should pray, or where I should go to pray.

anyone can start a religion
the recipie is:
ONE GOD
ONE BOOK (with contents contradicting each other any para will mean anything and everthing)
One Leader
One Follower(to begin with later keep on adding)
for beginners it is easy to start a cult than a new religion. Get started now.
