"Tribute to my Teachers !!" (Part I )

Among Hindus while paying our respects and homage and offering our prayers,the order of preference is said to be as follows :"Matha,Pitha,Guru and Devo !" meaning mother, father, teacher and GOD.But to my reasoning this order is wrong,because,

1.First of all the first three are humans and the last one is GOD and so it is wrong to club humans and GOD together.

2.While considering humans, mother, father and teacher, the order of priority in my humble opinion should be as follows :

"Guru, Matha, and Pitha" and the GOD is incomparable and divine and so is beyond our reasoning. Hence GOD is omitted from the above list.

3.Matha or Mother is no doubt the epitome of love, affection,forbearance,devotion and above all self-less,but her qualities are attributed towards her children.Hence, the tag of 'selfishness' glues with her atleast as against her children.

4.Father also almost has all the qualities of the mother but the quality of forbearance,love and affection are more in a mother than a father.Father is more concerned about his family than anyone else.Hence naturally the tag of 'selfishness'sticks with him.

5.Guru or Teacher is a total stranger known for his concern and love for students, scholarship, devotion to duty, self-less service and above all doing everything without any tag of selfishness.One may ask that after all we are paying our teachers.May be, but, for what we are paying is only for his scholarship and devotion to duty.Do we pay anything to our teachers for other than these qualities or virtues of a teacher ? A teacher is like a ladder, helping hundreds of students to climb upon without any grouse.It is not a wonder to see a proud mother or father when her or his son or daughter achieves something in life because he or she is of her or his own blood.But we see many of our teachers without any zealousy on their part are very proud to see his own student has reached a position , achieved something significant in a field.Again it is the teacher who moulds a student out of his or her home to become a responsible citizen, to deal with the intricacies of this world.Therefore, the role of a teacher surges ahead against the role of parents.Here lies the seeds of selflessness of a teacher.

Therefore,I prefer to pay my first respect to my teachers than my parents.
