"Keeping Fit"
Most of us think that keeping oneself fit is to remain a health freak. Not necessarily. As we grow in age,so many changes occur in our body. Our body is not flexible as was the case when we were in our childhood.Even the blinking of our eyelids slow down as we grow up.Therefore, in order to keep oneself fit we have to bear in mind certain aspects and take them into consideration before embarking into any programme of exercise for keeping oneself fit.
First of all we should take note that the physical constitution of individuals vary. Some of us are lean and some of us are bulky by birth. Then our food habits vary according to our religion. For example the Hindus are both vegetarian and non-vegetarian.But the christians and muslims are predominantly non-vegetarian Therefore, according to our body constitution and food habits and the normal weight of our body, we should evolve a programme for exercise.Again it is always advisable to consult a doctor or a dietician, to determine the actual need of calories according to one's nature of work and other routines. It is well known that while physical exertion and hard work needs more calories and mental work comparatively requires lesser calories.
After all we are not all Evan Lendle who used to check up his body weight twice daily through a computer and then and there changed his diets with the help of a dietician, according to the need of the hour. When he played a grand slam match he was more strict in his diet.To such an extent he was a health freak when he was at his peak.
Generally it is advisable to play an out door game atleast for some time each day according to one's flair and interest. Those who are playing indoor games like carrom, chess, etc should necessarily go for some physical exercises either at home or in a jim.
Again as we grow in age especially after 40,we are bound to have or develop ailments like cholestrol, diabetes etc. Therefore,it is advisable to go for a complete medical check-up once in a year atleast.Especially those people who are prone to have heriditory diseaces like diabetes, hypertension etc, should be careful enough to have regular medical check-ups.
Jogging or walking is the best exercise for the people who are in the above 40 age group.Atleast 30 minutes each day and thrice in a week, one should go for jogging or walking.Again it is always preferable to have an early morning walk between 0500 to 0600 hours during which we can inhale fresh air, devoid of any air pollution.
Therefore, according to one's own physical constitution and needs, one should be systematic in following the programme for exercise which is suitable for him.Without even being a health freak one can easily cross 70 or 80.Wish you a happy, healthy and long life !!
