With the year coming to an end, the New Oxford American Dictionary has declared the 2007 word of the year. The word of 2006 was Truthiness. This year the title goes to “locavore”. Now what does that mean ? Any idea ? Read on …
“Locavore” basically refers to the movement that encourages consumers to buy from farmers’ markets or even to grow or pick this own food, arguing that fresh, local products are more nutritious and taste better. The word `locavore’ shows how food lovers can enjoy what they eat while still appreciating the impact they have on the environment. The word was coined by a group of four women in San Francisco, some two years ago.
