Orange city

This is one of the most happening cities in today's times. Strategically located in the Deccan Plateau, this magnificent city has been termed as the winter capital of Maharashtra. To the north, this district shares boundaries with the state of Madhya Pradesh. Nagpur forms the second capital of Maharashtra and is also termed as the orange city.
THere are many coal mines, thermal power plants. It has a lion's share in producing cotton. The city gets its name from the river Nag that flows through this land. It is a famous land amongst the Buddhists. The oranges growing here are famous so is called orange city.
Nagardhan, a prehistoric town, has been of great importance since ages. The town came into existence because of a Suryavanshi king. There are tales that mention that the real founder of this land was Nandvardhan, A king of the Shail Dynasty. The land houses a fort, supposedly built by the Bhonsles comprising of brick walls. Nagzira has a wildlife sanctuary, gifted with an abundance of wild beasts resting in natural domains, that are a harmonious combination of lush greens and water bodies. The gaur is the star attraction here, along with sambar, deer, and many others from the vicious clan. Nearest railhead is Tiroda 19 kms, nearest airport is Nagpur, 122 kms from here.
As I am planning to visit Nagpur next year I have been looking at places worth visiting nearby.
If you come along we could enjoy eating oranges too.
