Da Vinci might have been an Arab!

Well folks! All of you who were thinking that Da Vinci was an Italian have to read this bit of information. Researchers who studied one of his fingerprints on his masterpiece have found out that he might have had an Arab ancestry.

After extensive studies on the fingerprint taken from the artist's left index finger, researchers have come to this conclusion. According to them there is a central whorl in his fingerprint which is presumably middle eastern in nature as more than 60% of middle eastern fingerprints have this pattern. This gives increasing weightage to the theory that Da Vinci's mother Caterina came to Tuscany from Istanbul. Furthermore the name Caterina was a very common name among slaves of Tuscany. 3 years of scrutinizing the manuscripts and paintings of the artist led to the discovery of the fingerprint.

Using the latest spectral scanning photography more than 200 fingerprints were analyzed but only one print on a portrait called as Portrait of a Lady with an Ermine was deemed analyzable. Da Vinci used the fingerprint to smudge the necklace's shadow in the painting. The painting is in the Polish city of Krakow.
