Spoonerisms!
Spoonerisms are words or phrases in which the syllables or letters get swapped. It has its origins from the Reverend Archibald Spooner who was known for his verbal slips. Basically Spoonerisms can be just got by slips of the tongue!
Consider these:
A lack of pies (a pack of lies)
It's roaring with pain (It's pouring with rain)
Bottle in front of me (frontal lobotomy)
Flock of bats (block of flats)
Rental deceptionist (dental receptionist)
Fighting a liar (lighting a fire)
A blushing crow (a crushing blow)
Go and shake a tower (go and take a shower)
I must mend the sail (I must send the mail)
Now try to figure out these for yourself:
Belly jeans -
Fight in your race -
Wave the sails -
I am a damp stealer -
Tease my ears -
Know your blows -
Our queer old Dean -
Nosey little cook -
Have fun!!
