Palindromes and Oxymorons
Palindromes are a beautiful aspect of the English language. The word palindrome is derived from the Greek language (Palin = AGAIN and Dramein = RUN) and means words or sentences that read the same either forwards or backwards. Some examples include:
Single Words:
MALAYALAM
REDIVIDER
RADAR
MADAM
DEED
RACECAR
Sentences:
MADAM I'M ADAM (Ignoring the punctuations)
ABLE WAS I, ERE, I SAW ELBA (Shakespeare's immortal statement)
RATS LIVE ON NO EVIL STAR
WAS IT ELIOT'S TOILET I SAW?
DO GEESE SEE GOD?
A TOYOTA
CAMPUS MOTTO: BOTTOM'S UP MAC.
A MAN, A PLAN, A CANAL: PANAMA. (Devised during the design of the Panama Canal)
Several more examples abound in English language.
Another great tool of the English language is an Oxymoron. Two distinctly dissimilar words are grouped together to make a phrase.
Ex: ACT NATURAL!
SAME DIFFERENCE
ONLY CHOICE

PAID VOLUNTEERS
SERIOUSLY FUNNY
LIVING DEAD
OPEN SECRET
And many more!!
