Eventide Benediction

Now, in the evening hush
I wend my way,
In search of healing peace
At close of day.
Here in the forest aisles
The breezes sigh
Their message seems to tell
That God is nigh
Here in each twilight sound
His voice is heard-
In every rustling leaf
And call of bird
Then by a tranquil stream
I pause to pray
And benediction come,
To end the day.

Truth
Some can leave the truth unspoken
Oh truth is light on such!
They may choose their time and season,
Nor feel it matters much.
I am not their judge, God help me!
Though I am of the crew
For whom is only truth or treason –
No choice between the two
But pity wrestles with my fury
Till, spent and dumb and dry,
I envy bees which, barbed with reason,
Give the whole sting and die.

Never heard of M.M.Duncan though.
We had such poetry in college and I found it hard to remember the names of poets when it came to "Explain with reference to context" part in exams.
You have a new picture in your profile.Is that a part of Sri Lankan Coast?
Or some sort of "Coincidental Photography"?

Duncan was a little known 1800- 1900 poet Uma,
Thats a picture of the 12 Apostles on the Great Ocean Road close to Warrnambool Australia. Not 12 any more as some of them have fallen.
