Khazan Singh Profile

Khazan Singh Profile
Khazan Singh is arguably the most outstanding swimmer India has ever produced. Born on May 6, 1964, in Delhi, Khazan Singh stands tall in a sport where mediocrity has been the byword for Indian sportspeople.
Khazan made a sensational debut in competitive swimming when he bagged five gold medals at the National School Championships in 1981-82. In the 1982 National Aquatics Championship at Delhi, Khajan reigned supreme by winning five gold, two silver and one bronze. The following year at the Nationals in Trivandrum, he raised the bar by clinching seven gold, two silver and one bronze.
Apart from his stranglehold over the national title, Khazan Singh earned international laurels as well, the highlight being the silver at the 1986 Asian Games in Seoul. No Indian swimmer has been able to emulate his feat till date.
At the 1985 Kathmandu South Asian Federation Games, Khazan Singh won gold medal in the 100 meters freestyle with a National Record of record of 55.34 seconds. He also won a bronze at the 1988 Asian Swimming Championship in Beijing.
