There are three types of Microwave oven available in the market.

2. Grill Microwave: This has a grill function also apart from microwave function. Grill is used for roasting or browning food. But the limitation is that only top portion of food get grilled/ or browned. You will have to turn the food upside down to grill the food from bottom. If you are a vegetarian and don't want to prepare cake and cookies then you can buy a grill model.

Covection is basically a special fan system in the microwave which helps to rotate the hot air around the food so it gets roasted and browned by all sides without bothering to turn the food upside down. It is also good for those who want to try making variety of cakes, cookies, and other roasted items. Hello Vivek
You mentioned sterilizing baby's bottles, please don't as it will not be sterilized 100%. Don't use any plastic ware either as it is found to be harmful. Use only glass, ceramic without metallic trim, pottery and porcelain.
But doctor's, nursing homes, and hospitals...
are using microwaves for sterilization. Baby bottles, glass containers etc can be sterilized 100%. Use with water and micro for 4-5 minutes. Food grade plastics can be used to cook food not ordinary one.
thanks for reading Sylvia...I hope you are using microwave.
wish you good health and happiness...

I have discarded 4 microwave ovens up to now during the last several years, so thats how long I have used them. The two that I am using now are 10 years old. Why I say that the bottles don't get sterilized is because when you cook in a microwave its only the food or the liquid that cooks the container remains cold. I used to sterilize my jam bottles in the m'oven and always found that the jam did not keep. Then as a test I had half the bottles sterilized in the old way and half in the microwave. The ones I sterilized in the old way lasted while the others went bad. Check again about the plastics. It has been banned in certain countries. You should also not put hot food into plastic containers. There is a number that appears on the bottom of plastic bottles which indicates whether it can be reused. I have the information in my computer or on a disc and I shall look for it. I know these things as I ran a test kitchen to develop food products as a home based industry for rural women to earn a sustainable income. They even don't recommend plastic feeding bottles anymore. These were recent findings. They lead to cancers.
are micro owens safe ?
may be your article will be much appreiciated if you write another blog with how safe it is to use them.
wishing you perfect health forever.
