Floods and Its Management in brief

The first thing about Flood Management is "Flood Defence". Now these flood defence can be achieved in two broad ways. First by traditional flood engineering methods using 'hard' defences which rely on river channel modifications or artificial materials, like concrete, shaped into dams, levees or othger structures specially designed to control flood flows. In coastal areas, sea walls have been widely constructed to resist the energy of incoming waves and tides. Flood engineering can be readily adapted to defend property at a site-specific, or even building-specific scale, when it is known as flood proofing. Second, by flood abatement methods using 'soft' defences which rely on essentially natural materials, whether of geological or biological origin and existing environmental processes to control flooding and land erosion.

Flood abatement is a more 'extensive' approach which works best over comparatively large areas of a drainage basin or sections of a low lying coast. It usually serves goals additional to flood mitigation- such as timber production or recreation- and is impemented to the best advantage on a basis which works with, rather than against the environmental process that create a natural interdependence between land and water resources.

Thats the reason according to me, flood abatement is the best method for making a flood defence program. My concept is that Nature can tackle Nature.

Its we who exploit nature in such a way, that Nature strikes back and we fall helpless victims in the hands of the mighty force of it. Lets preserve our Environment and thats the first step in making a Beautiful world.
