Tales and stories are read by people of all ages.Their richness, variety and beauty is never ending.Those who develop the habit of reading these are full of knowledge, imagination and lead a content life because the choice of good books makes a man all the more wise.
Whatever be the truth,the fact is that imagination has always fascinated men,women and children alike.Inspite of endless production of stories in modern times, ancient legends,fables and tales always remain memorable.These fascinate children more than anyone else.The main reason,probably, may be that they overflow with imagination and fantasy. Often these are termed as legends and myths and continue to be rated among the most interesting.They make children imagine giggle and cry ,laugh and weep.They touch the heart and stir feelings.
The adventures of demons, devils, gods and goddesses arouse the curiosity of children in their own peculiar way. Legends have stories filled with adventures of great heroes and heroines .Many of these originated in the Orient and ancient Greece. The people of ancient Greece gave the name “chaos” to the newly formed Earth and it literally means “great confusion”.
Mythology also tells us about how the man made his first appearance. They also explain how “hope” made man to fight against odds and how man was able to feel and experience diseases, epidemics wars , calamities, sorrows and other difficulties. The stories on mythology explains the scientific phenomena like movement of the Sun, the Moon, the stars and planets and other aspects of the universe. Till there is life on earth these immortal stories will continue to kindle the imagination of all.
