Muzamil Ibrahim: A religious person

I would call myself a religious person but i believe it's important to be both religious as well as spiritual in equal measures. I believe in the presence of a Higher Power and my relationship with God has been a very personal one. However, i don't always go to a mosque or a temple to look for God or get in touch with my spiritual side. For me God is all around and one can make a connection with him at any time. Sometimes i feel i have made a connection with God while doing mundane things like listening to music or while i am sitting by the sea aside on a cool breezy day. It is very soothing and it makes me think of God in someway. It is often in such moments that I have experienced the presence of God in my life. Sometimes i cry out to God when i am feeling low and things are not going right, other times i thank God for all the good he has done to me but most of the time in my prayers i ask him to do whatever he thinks is best for my life and give good health to my parents. My mother is the greatest source of inspiration for me; she is my lucky charm. Since i have a crazy schedule i am not very regular in my prayers but my mother always prays for me and i strongly believe her prayers protect me from all the evils of the world.
In times of adversity i find great comfort in my mother. i just put my hands in her lap and seek her refuge.

I don't think going to a religious place is important to feel the presence of God. However, i like the atmosphere of a religious place, it's always very positive and tranquil and sometimes it is important to be in that kind of atmosphere to make a connection with God. I am happy with my life right now. My work has been appreciated in Dhokha which was released this weekend and i feel God has been gracious to me.
