Green as grass, thin as a sheet and strong as steel...

Something less controversial but with a huge potential for future society.

Scientists have reportedly developed plastic that is thin as a sheet and strong as steel.

It is made from clay and non-toxic glue, similar to that used in school classrooms - a composite plastic that is biodegradable and requires very little energy to produce.

It is green as you could imagine, is very cheap to produce and the plastic could be used to reduce the energy required to separate gases in chemical factories, improve microtechnology and even, one day perhaps, produce lighter and stronger armour for the military and police.

The potential of such a product would probably be unlimited considering what it appears to be made of.

Notes: Producing composite material out of nano sized building blocks. In the exploratory stage only. Check out Spacemart.com too for further information.
