The suggestions made by different authorities have not all been tried. Some of them have been implemented and some have proved to be failures either because of inherent defects in them or because of the defect of implementation. Hence the Government and some private organisations have set about the task of increasing job opportunities. In the modern set up, banks have started doing their mite towards providing employment opportunities. To the educated youth, to the artisan, to those who do not have a steady incomes like rickshaw pullers and vegetable vendors, banks have come forward to issue loans so that they could be self employed. Self employment opportunities are the greatest benefits that have been given by banks, with the encouragement of the Government. Information centres have been opened to guide educated youth to know how and where they can get suitable employment. Today there are many institutions which offer training in cottage industries and small scale industries. Sometimes they offer stipends to the trainees and thus provide them not only the means to get employment, but also the confidence in their ability to do some useful work. Universities and some private agencies have prepared a list of institutions which can offer such training and they offer their services free of charge except when they have to supply printed books or pamphlets that give more details about employment opportunities.
