The main learning center(Gharana)of this dance are located around Puri And Bhuneshwer cities of the state from long time,though the origin of oddisi is basically related with temples of Lord venketshwar,Lord Jagarnath and Konark's Sun temple.

The credit of renaissance of Oddisi goes to Kavi chandra Kalicharan Patnayak and the credit of popularizing this dance world over is with Sanyukta Panigrahi.

Other famous and prominent name associated with this classical dance are-Guru Kalucharan Mahapatra,Rita Devi,Malti Parikh,Madhvi Mirdugal,sonal Mann Singh and many others.
