Giant Dinosaurs dating back to 88 million years !

Name : Futalognkosaurus dukei
That is the latest discovery from Argentina’s Patagonia region. A new species of giant dinosaurs dating back to 88 million years. Palaeontologists have found more than 70 percent of the skeleton making it among the few almost complete skeletons found.
The first part of the name Futalognkosaurus dukei is derived from Mapuche meaning “giant chief of dinosaurs” and the dukei honours Duke Energy Argentina , which financed the excavations at Lake Barreales.
Other animal and plant fossils found alongside the dinosaurs now allow researchers to “reconstruct an ecosystem of the upper Cretaceous period (from 97 to 66 million years age) with unprecedented exactitude”, said Jorge Calvo, director, Comahue National University Palaeontology Centre.
Other fossils include fish, shellfish, two kinds of animals similar to crocodiles and other dinosaurs like Pterosaur and Megaraptor.
Plant fossils were predominantly flowering ones.

When my boys were growing up, my house was full of Dinosaur books, toys, and what have you... even the garden had plants that came from that era! They belong to the family Cycadaceae. Often considered a living fossil, the earliest fossil of the genus Cycas appear in the Cenozoic although Cycas-like fossils that may belong to Cycadaceae extend well into the Meszoic period.
