The Great Delhi Run

Yesterday was the day the more awaited before months. The Vodafone Half Marathon and the Great Delhi Run (7 kms) was on the board yesterday with the presence of honourable famous guests like Sheila Dixit and Rahul Dravid. I was on a verge to start running when I noticed Rahul at twice a hand stretch distance. I was surprised and have never thought of to see such a renowned personality as close as possible. He was smart enough in reality as much as in cricket. There were wavings all around the roads trying to make an appearance in the Television. Though I started late due to the big crowd admiring their presence themselves, I was more interested to see many people including the old aged groups with an interest to complete the race.
I always remember my senior's advice that - the most important objective in athletics is to complete the race. I had lost in touch with running since 2 years, anyhow I decided to participate and complete it with a good trial. I succeeded in it also. During the race I could find many people crossing the lines trying to cut down the kms from 7 to 6 or even lesser. There could be no measures to control them when the crowd turned to be that big. So many school children, college students, married couples, company employees and retired people participated in the race. The retired people with a vigour completed the run by walk. I had a target of 30 minutes to reach the finish line though devoid of practice. I ultimately achieved the target by touching the finish line 1 minute ahead of my set objective. That gave me a pleasure indeed. I got myself registered in the top ten of my company's list of representatives who completed the run.
This run gave me an immense pleasure and satisfaction since running is my passion and I love the athletics sport. I missed the run last year, since I was new to Delhi at that time. It was ofcourse a sense of joy to mingle in that big crowd admiring their presence and enjoying their moments. Hope everyone enjoyed watching in television even. Expecting the best next year even.
