Lessons in Life
Lessons I learned in life
When you are taught with military command you better learn it! Even though in those days we had enough and more domestic help, my father told me that I should know to be able to instruct. But at that rebellious age you are blind to that wisdom. You feel that you are being penalized whilst your friends your age are having the fun of their lives.
When I married and got to know my Mother-in-law better, I enjoyed polishing up my skills with her loving guidance. It was then that I understood my father's wisdom which has made me the woman I am today.
My message to all parents is: teach and guide your children with love to appreciate the values of life during their formative years so as they grow up they understand the world and see it in a different light. Teach them to uphold truth. Teach them to appreciate the little things in life. Live that life yourselves so you are their guiding light.
Among other things I was taught in those early days and reminded all the time was: “do not live in the past glories, make your own and when you celebrate them be humble. Your knowledge is your fortune, enrich and treasure it. Wealth can be inherited, made and lost in a day, but your knowledge will never be lost nor taken away from you. Treasure it, value it, and freely give it away as you will never lose it anyway.”
