Mother- A bit different experience !!
Almost everyone here must be knowing the story of a little boy, who got lost in a fair and he was crying for his mother, when people asked him, how his mother looked like? He answered- "My mother is the most beautiful woman in the world". Still the search went on and when the boy embraced a lady who was ugly in looks and clad in dirty clothes,no one was surprised, because it were the feelings of the boy, which made him to say such words about his mother.
Here are some beautiful quotes about Mother by some great people-
* A mother is a person who seeing there are only four pieces of pie for five people, promptly announces she never did care for pie. ~Tenneva Jordan
* The moment a child is born, the mother is also born. She never existed before. The woman existed, but the mother, never. A mother is something absolutely new. ~Rajneesh
*My mom is a neverending song in my heart of comfort, happiness, and being. I may sometimes forget the words but I always remember the tune. ~Graycie Harmon
*Most of all the other beautiful things in life come by twos and threes, by dozens and hundreds. Plenty of roses, stars, sunsets, rainbows, brothers and sisters, aunts and cousins, comrades and friends - but only one mother in the whole world. ~Kate Douglas Wiggin
I have heard people saying that the relation between a mother and her child is unique, it can never be compared to any other relation etc, etc.
But my relaion to my mother is limited to just her breast-feeding to me for a year and a half and after that--
Just a black and white photograph...a woman with a big 'Bindi' on her fore-head...I stared that photograph so often that it is now engraved in my heart forever...
Mothers teach all the things to a daughter with great love and care...but I remember...when I tried to roll a chapati, when I was in 5th class, it was almost circular, and not a map of any country...probably becoz I knew that I have to learn it fast and no one is going to do it for me for a long time.So you see I learnt earlier than others do, only the way of learning was different.
Now that I am a mother of two little kids, I am not sure at times whether I am performing my duty correctly, becoz I scold them very often...I feel that I am hurting them...but when I found the quote below, I was satisfied that I am not wrong-
Some mothers are kissing mothers and some are scolding mothers, but it is love just the same, and most mothers kiss and scold together. ~Pearl S. Buck
Yes, I too scold and kiss them together....

Vaishali I know
you are a good mother as your nature reflects it. But I would like to add here that we should ot expect too much from children and we should also not take care of them too much. Many things they can learn better by experimeting themselves. Keep writing.

Vaishali
You are pouring in good articles.I am a mother too.I scold my children too but that doesn't need to make you feel guilty in any way because that's one way of expressing that you can talk like that only to the person you love. All mothers are good mothers ,only the way they express their love is different.
Keep up the good work!

Uma

expectation kills the joy!
Very nice article vaishali. but i would like to warn you against over expectations. kindly bear in mind that expectation kills the joy. when you expect your children to outperform it ll create tension/ stress in their mind. try to befriend them and accept them as they are. Becoz no kid is like your own kid.(that what mothers should be believing in, else we wouldnt have been so different from each others)!
So enjoy your motherhood like you have never before!
Ya, Bibi, I will try -
Not to put too much pressure on them , Thanks for your wise comments !

House of Oshon - Think Twice Before Entering
U r right Oshon, but...
when there is no one to teach, you have to learn things by yourself, isn't it?
But scold only when it is very necessary !
Never scold your kids for small things. If you need to scold them make them understand that they have done something wrong and you scold them for their good.
You are right Vijayanths !
I never scold unnecessarily, but I like discipline in my home and someimes over-expect from children.
That's what the common mistake we make Vaishali!
Please see that your kids don't getaversion towards studies coz of your over expectations from the kids.We usually expect our present standards from our kids forgetting our standards at their ages.
