•Altimeter is used for measuring altitude in aero planes.
•Audiometer is used to measure the intensity of sound.
•Hygrometer is used for measuring atmospheric humidity
•Hydrometer is used for measuring relative densities of liquids.
•Barometer was invented by Torricelli in 1643, to measure atmospheric pressure.
•Lactometer measures the relative density of milk to determine its purity.
•Hypsometer determines the boiling point of liquids.
•Fathometer helps to measure the depth of the sea.
•Pyrometer is used to record high temperatures from a great distance. Temperature of sun is measured by Pyrometer.
•A Black box is an apparatus which records flight data of an aero plane, it includes a cockpit voice.
•Recorder ( C.V. R): The colour of a black box is orange so that it can be detected easily, especially under water, in the event of an accident.
•A periscope is used to see over objects when direct vision is obstructed. They were used to see over the edge of trenches in World War I. They are also used in submarines to see objects on the sea surface.
•A hovercraft can move on both land and in water. It has no wheels. It moves on a cushion of air. It was designed by Sir Christopher Cockerell in 1959.
•Commutater is an instrument used to change the direction of current.
•Calorimeter is an instrument used to measure the quantity of heat.
