“Not now, write your exams first”.
Every one of us has sat at least once in the examination room to attend our tests. I too have sat many a time for the same. It was during one of my post-graduation internal examination that these lines took shape in my mind. I couldn’t help it but pen down immediately with urgency on the only available paper. My examiner thought I was cheating and came up to me saying “I didn’t expect this from you”. She snatched away my question paper and went through it angrily. When she saw what I have written, she smiled and put her hand on my cheek saying “Not now, write your exams first”. I don’t know was it her blessing or my preparation but I scored exceptionally well in that exam. But to this day and life long I would like to believe that it was her blessings. Whenever I miss my tutor, I go through these lines and once again bask in her love. I love you madam.
This silent room,
The room so full, yet so empty,
The examination room.
Cheery faces are all tense
And eyes are all filled with gloom.
The warmth of friends is lost
The cold look of examiner
Penetrates deep into my soul.
The blank stares ahead at the wall
And my memories flood back
To this Examination room
A room filled with gloom.
