PINS, NEEDLES & LACE

PETIT-POINT
Tapestry and petit-point are hobbies requiring concentration and minute attention to detail. All you need is a collection of designs, embroidery thread in a variety of colours, canvas and some good lap or free standing frames. There are many books in the market that teach you the various stichery and designs

Patchwork and quilting.
Here too beautiful work can be done with pride by you and all you need is a sewing machine, scraps of matching cloth, wadding, thread and lining cloth. You can plan you project and apply your own design or follow one from a good book.
You can even incorporate hand made lace, ric-rack braid and appliqué designs into your project, then you won’t have to undertake complete patch work in a large piece such as a bed spread.

Bobbin lace ( Pillow Lace)
Another interesting technique of lace making. Designs are pinned on a padded pillow and interwoven with the aid of bobbins on which the thread/yarn is wrapped.

Embroidery, Crochet, Tatting, and other lace making techniques are worth pursuing as a hobby.

My favourite things. You have reminded me of all my friends who taught me these things.I love to do them too Sylvia.I feel this has been the best thing that could have happened to me because you have taken me down the memory lane.

Thanks
Uma

So you see another side of me...

Yes of course, I am an artist foremost. Been setting up a craft village teaching all the forgotten crafts to underprivileged women after the tsunami struck to earn a sustainable income. Came back from Australia armed with design books etc. and ideas are brimming over...

Thanks for dropping by, it has been a very hectic day on the road today, hob nobbing with bloggers all the way. Chatting away, lending a hand here and there, jolly good.

Have a great day and perfect health just as
you say all the time! I mean it really.
