PLANES – several types as listed ...
Planes: to smooth or whittle down wood surface. Never lay a plane face down. Always plane with grain of wood sloping upward. Hold plane firmly in right hand on knob.
Smoothing plane: 8 inches long, work with grain. Used to smooth rough edges where straight edges and sides are not required.
Jack plane: 14 inches long. Work with grain. Used to smooth rough edges where straight edges and sides are not required. Not as precise as smooth or fore plane.
Fore plane: 18inches long. Work with grain. Used to make a true edge for accurate work.
Jointer plane: 22 to 24 inches long. Work with grain.
Rabbit plane : open-sided, to cut grooves or sharp corners.
Combination plane: Irons may be interchanged
Pliers: used to bend or cut wire, etc., as a wrench, etc.
Putty knife: flexible, dull–bladed knife used to mix and apply putty, plasater, etc.
Ruler: available in folding-wood or self re-winding flexible tape. Should marked in 1/16th inch intervals, to 6 feet

sorry to be boring you with tools, these I inherited with a LIST and how to use... it certainly comes in handy when you cannot get a handyman to come! One more, and then I am done. What would you like me to write about?
