Vitamin E

Vitamin E
It is also a fat soluble vitamin. Fat soluble vitamins are insoluble in water. Vitamin E is not soluble in water. It is also called Tocopherol or antisterility vitamin. it was discovered by Mattil and Conclin in 1920. It exists in three forms such as alpha, beta and gamma tocopherols. Experimental studies on rats have shown that the deficiency of vitamin E causes disturbances in the reproductive system. It is richly found in wheat, cotton seeds, vegetable oils etc. It is also found in the liver muscles of heart kidney etc.
Tocopherol is a very good antioxidant it prevents certain substances like vitamin A, fatty acids, membrane lipids etc. as deficiency causes reproductive failure and degeneration of muscles in many mammals. So include Vitamin E rich food items in our daily diet.
